Saudia Group unveils two-level Arafat facility for Hajj 2026 expansion
New infrastructure upgrades aim to improve comfort, flow, and coordination systems
DUBAI – Saudia Group has announced a significant expansion of its integrated Hajj services for the 2026 season, introducing enhanced infrastructure and coordinated pilgrim support systems across the Kingdom’s holy sites.
The initiative is designed to serve pilgrims travelling from outside Saudi Arabia to Makkah, Madinah and key ritual locations, with a strong emphasis on efficiency, comfort and seamless movement throughout the pilgrimage journey.
The Group confirmed that a total of 4,200 pilgrims from 43 countries will be served under its upgraded packages for Hajj 2026, representing a 300% increase compared to the previous season. The expansion reflects a wider strategy to scale capacity while refining the quality of services delivered at every stage, from pre-departure planning to post-arrival support and ritual coordination within the holy sites.
At the heart of the new development is a two-level facility in Arafat, engineered to maximise space efficiency while reducing congestion and exposure to extreme heat. The structure forms part of a broader infrastructure push aimed at improving pilgrim flow and enhancing the overall experience during peak ritual periods.
Arafat upgrade
The newly developed Arafat facility introduces a dual-level design that allows higher capacity usage without compromising movement or safety. Built to optimise spatial distribution, the structure is expected to ease operational pressure during one of the most densely populated phases of Hajj. The design also focuses on thermal comfort, supporting pilgrims in managing heat conditions more effectively while performing rituals.
In parallel, enhancements have been introduced across Mina, where operations have expanded from one tower to three fully integrated towers. These structures are inspired by the design principles of premium cabin services, offering improved privacy, organised flow and more efficient accommodation management for pilgrims.
Integrated ecosystem
The expanded services are powered through a coordinated ecosystem of specialised entities working under Saudia Hajj and Umrah. This includes end-to-end pilgrimage coordination, supported by a central operations framework that links data, logistics and service delivery across all stages of the journey.
Supporting infrastructure is also being delivered by Saudia Real Estate, which is responsible for developing facilities across the holy sites with a focus on comfort, safety and efficient movement. Meanwhile, Saudi Ground Services Co. will provide its “Luggage First” service, designed to streamline baggage handling and reduce waiting times for pilgrims.
Catering operations will be managed by CATRION, ensuring structured meal provision across sites, while Medical Fakeeh will operate fully equipped clinics to deliver on-ground healthcare support throughout the pilgrimage period.
Digital journey
A centralised integrated operations centre has been introduced to enhance coordination between all stakeholders involved in the Hajj process. The system connects pilgrim data and service providers in real time, improving decision-making speed and enabling smoother transitions between different stages of the journey.
Services will begin even before departure from pilgrims’ home countries, with dedicated support teams assisting during pre-travel preparations, airport departures and arrival procedures in the Kingdom. Once in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims will receive coordinated assistance including arrival guidance, structured scheduling for visits to Al Rawdah Al Sharifah and organised Tawaf arrangements at Al Masjid Al Haram.
Special provisions have been developed for elderly pilgrims, including assisted mobility options such as golf carts and guided support across key ritual stages. Alongside this, advanced digital platforms will allow pilgrims to plan schedules, manage movement and prioritise activities with greater ease, reducing logistical complexity and allowing more focus on spiritual observance.
Across Mina and Arafat, service enhancements continue to emphasise integration and comfort, with facilities designed to reflect premium service standards and improved spatial planning. In Arafat, the environment has been developed to mirror lounge-inspired design principles, incorporating structured dining areas and continuous care services operating throughout the day and night, ensuring uninterrupted support during peak pilgrimage periods.
